Aggie's Burrow refurbished in memory of Guernsey child

The flat near Southampton Hospital where a Guernsey family stayed while their daughter was receiving treatment has been refurbished in tribute to her.

Coloured stars on the wall, a bookshelf and a giant cuddly rabbit now decorate Aggie's Burrow.

Aggie passed away nine years ago after a 20-month battle with neuroblastoma.

The two-bedroom flat ensures families can stay together when their children need medical treatment in Southampton.

Emma and Hubert Nicolle says the room is a lovely tribute to their daughter, Aggie.

“We love the redecoration of the bedroom in Aggie’s Burrow, it looks amazing. We know that our girls would have loved to have slept there.

"We hope that it will make a big difference for the children that unfortunately have to stay there, and we hope it will make at least one aspect of being in Southampton a little easier.

"We also want to express our thanks to all that helped with the project as without these kind donations of artwork, furniture and time this would have not been possible.”

The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation's property was named after Aggie shortly after she died and now features the colours and items she was fond of.

Jo Priaulx from the foundation suggested the children's bedrooms at each of their properties be redecorated.

"Emma mentioned that Aggie and her younger sister Greta would enjoy sleeping in a bunk bed if they were away from home, so this is what we started with.

"Fairy lights and stars were all incorporated, and we think the finishing touches suggested by the Nicolles really make the room a warm and peaceful space.”

This is the second refurbishment project following Matthew's Hideaway in 2024 and there are currently plans for a third, Isaac's Pad.
