Aurigny Relaunches London City Flights

Ten years on, the new twice daily service will leave Guernsey early, and get day trippers back before 9pm.

Aurigny began a Guernsey to London City service in  September 2014, after surveying local business people on whether they'd use the connection.

The airline 'dry' leased an ATR 42 to operate the link, painted in the airline's colours, and with its own crew. The route was reasonably popular at first, but then sales declined and Aurigny stopped it.

Now, to improve connectivity for islanders, it's starting the service again, on Sunday 31st March. London City has departures to more than 30 domestic and European destinations.

Flights will depart Guernsey at 07.10 weekdays and will arrive back by 20.45.

The approach to City is steep, because of all the buildings, and it gives passengers great views of Canary Wharf. Pilots need special training to be able to fly it. It will be operated by an ATR 72.

Aurigny's CEO Nico Bezuidenhout says he's pleased to relaunch the service:

“As a key International Finance Centre, many businesses on our island work closely with their London counterparts with regular meetings in the City and East London."

"Direct flights to this airport will benefit these businesses and, anyone who wishes to jump on the London underground to explore  attractions such as St. Paul's Cathedral, the Olympic Park and the vibrant restaurants of Shoreditch.”
