Could Guernsey become a swimming holiday destination?

Colleagues from an international travel company have completed an epic sea swimming challenge, circling Guernsey.

SwimTrek, the world's leading swimming holiday operator, decided to test Guernsey's waters before promoting the island to its customers.

Eleven employees swam to and from St Peter Port on 24 July.

The 32 miles featured iconic landmarks such as Castle Cornet, the cliffs of Jerbourg, and Vazon Bay.

Ben McIvor from SwimTrek says it was a positive experience.

"We specialise in holidays, so this was a really nice way of seeing the island, not just from a land point of view.

So now we can share the story and try and get others to visit.

The south coast of the island was absolutely stunning - with the coves and the bays.

It was a bit humbling at times with some of the currents that come into play, so there were a few challenges on the way for the team.

But in general, such a sunny, fantastic place."

The team celebrated crossing the finish line with hot chocolate, champagne and cake supplied by the Fermain Valley Hotel.

VisitGuernsey, the official tourism board of Guernsey, partnered with SwimTrek to support this event.
