A filter junction is being installed at the Chainhouse crossroads to prevent accidents and stop speeding.
In 2020 there were four road traffic collisions at the crossroads.
Work is due to get underway between St Andrew’s Road and Candie Road on Tuesday (31 August).
Bollards, temporary signs and cats eyes will also be installed to make the route safer,
The addition of the filter aims to slow cars they approach the junction.
St Andrew’s Constable Martin Thwaite supports the change:
“The Constables have become increasingly concerned by reports of accidents, near misses and speeding at this junction. Both parishioners and islanders will be aware it has been an accident black spot for many years, and now increasing traffic in the area has made the installation of a filter necessary. The St Andrew’s Douzaine support this initiative and ongoing monitoring of traffic in the area.”
All new filters are initially installed on a 12 month trial basis.
