Hall Reopens For Sports

Sports can use the Sir John Loveridge Hall at Beau Sejour from today (6 April) for the first time in 15 months.

The main hall is reopening, having been the island's Community Vaccination Centre since January 2021.

Leisure centre staff are preparing to welcomes sports groups back from 3pm.

Since the last jab there a fortnight ago the floor has been sanded and re-varnished, but more work will need to be done.

" Part of the maintenance was the sanding down of the existing varnish and re-varnishing. Unfortunately, some of the varnish hasn’t “taken” in certain areas.

However, the sports hall is still useable so will be opening tomorrow as planned.

We will liaise with sports groups on the need for further work but we’re really excited to welcome them back to Beau Sejour. There may be further work needed to the sports hall floor, but we’re hoping to undertake this during the quieter summer months.” - Sam Herridge, Head of Recreation Services.

Vaccinations have been moved to two smaller rooms at Beau Sejour.

Covid cases in Guernsey are falling, according to the latest weekly data.

There are 1,073 known active infections.  That is around half as many as a week ago.
