More than £20,000 donated to treat Guernsey baby's brain injury

A Guernsey mum has secured the funding necessary to treat her daughter's brain injury abroad, thanks to the public's generosity.

Naomi Foley set up a GoFundMe Page on 31 August 2024 to collect money for specialised stem cell treatment in the Netherlands for baby Margo.

As one of a set of identical triplets, Margo experienced oxygen deprivation during birth and brain damage.

Her mother hoped by sharing Margo's story and ongoing rehabilitation that people would help financially support the regenerative treatment.

Naomi says the family was shocked to pass the £18,000 goal within a week.

"I didn't book anything in with the clinic because I thought raising the money would hold it up, but in a week, it's insane.

"I've written to the clinic to try and reserve a date now.

"It's a weight off my mind to know that I can do everything I can in my power for Margo.

"Anything extra will go on equipment for her in the future, because this treatment is not going to cure her, it is just to give her a better quality of life.

"This is absolutely incredible, know that we are forever grateful."

She has booked the first appointment for November 2024.

At the time of publishing this article, 432 contributors have raised £20,140.

The triplets, Aggie, Margo and Edith, celebrated hitting the fundraising goal and their first birthday on Monday (9 September).
