Original images of Guernsey at London City Airport

More than 200 island artists have entered a competition that will showcase Guernsey and its occupation and liberation.

From March, 10 original images of Guernsey themed around the wartime occupation and liberation will fill a wall at London City Airport.

The competition is a joint initiative between Guernsey Arts, London City and Aurigny.

Louise Le Pelley from Guernsey Arts says they have been impressed with the quality and number of entries:

"It's been incredible! We've had more than 200 entries in a two week time frame. The Guernsey community have surpassed themselves."

Judges are now picking the winning art from a short list of 25.

Louise Le Pelley explains how it will be displayed at London City:

"You will see a gallery wall. This is a vinyl that will be created out of the successful entries."

Louise says it will showcase Guernsey's artists and its history and should act as an advert for anyone looking for a new getaway destination:

"We're hoping that this will really capture the imagination and share a little snippet about Guernsey's beauty and why Guernsey's culture and history and heritage is something you should visit to find out more about."
