States Calls For Pre-Departure Covid Tests

Officials are asking people to take a lateral flow test or a PCR test before arriving in the Bailiwick.

The guidance is a recommendation rather than a rule.

All passengers currently have to undergo testing or self-isolate on arrival.

Those who have travelled within the Common Travel Area have to buy packs of five lateral flows for £25. Anyone who has left the CTA in the 10 days before arriving in Guernsey must pay for a PCR test.

States officials are 'keen to highlight' that anyone who tests positive at the border will have to isolate for 10 days in 'suitable accommodation' that has to be paid for themselves.

They are also recommending that islanders check their travel insurance and the requirements of any countries they may visit before leaving as they can change at short notice.
