Students Urged To Take Covid Test Before School

Parents of Year 8 students at Les Beaucamps High School are being urged to make sure their children have a negative lateral flow test before they go into school this morning (9 September)

Guernsey's Director of Public Health, Dr Nicola Brink, has written to parents and carers after a positive COVID case was discovered in the year group.

Anyone identified as a direct contact can continue to go to school, as long as they don't have any symptoms and have a negative lateral flow test result every day for 10 days.

A government spokesperson says that while steps have been taken to prevent disruption in schools, it's important that islanders play their part:

"Specific risk mitigation measures have been put in place for education settings to try and keep students in school with minimal disruption to their learning, but everyone remaining vigilant for symptoms and staying at home if unwell is crucial. Please continue to work with us to help keep our education settings open to as many learners as we can."
