Guernsey and Sark field a bumper number of competitors for the Paris Olympics.

It has been confirmed this lunchtime, 1 July, that Guernsey tennis star Heather Watson will play in her fourth Games.

She will partner Katie Boulter in the women's doubles.

Sark's Carl Hester rides dressage in a record seventh Games.

Athletics star Alastair Chalmers' determination paid off after he won the 400m hurdles in Manchester yesterday, 30 June, following a false start.

He ran the race anyway, in protest, and crossed the line in an Olympic qualifying time of 48.54".

Friend and Guernsey Athletics Development officer, Tom Druce, was watching from the stands:

"I won't tell you what my thoughts were when he left his blocks early. But the performance itself was absolutely outstanding and he continues to amaze us in what he manages to do."

Alastair Chalmers had to wait an agonising 100 minutes to hear that his race was valid and that he had qualified for Team GB in Paris.

Tom Druce says Chalmers was somehow able to handle that pressure:

"I mean a lot of people, let's be clear, would have wilted in that scenario, but he managed to channel it and I think that certainly did help him."
