Islanders are being urged to allow more time for their journeys this morning (22 November), with winds forecast to get up to severe gale force 9.

Gusts are expected to reach 60mph in Guernsey and 65mph in Jersey.

Forecasters have issued an orange level wind warning  - the second highest alert level.

It recommends we 'remain vigilant'.

Thunderstorm warnings are also in place.

Police are advising motorists to leave more time to get to work, school or wherever else they need to be.
