A woman who died after going overboard from a cruise ship in Channel Island waters has been named.
28 year old Colombian national Jessica Andrea Gomez Granda had been a passenger on the MSC Virtuosa.
She was recovered from the sea off Alderney in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The French Coastguard received a distress call shortly after midnight on 12 October, and co-ordinated a major search involving a French navy helicopter, the Alderney RNLI lifeboat and the Channel Islands Air Search Plane.
The woman was airlifted from the water, but later pronounced dead by medics.
The Colombian consulate in London has confirmed the woman's identity and said her family had been notified.
A investigation led by French authorities, working with UK counterparts, is ongoing.
The ship's owner MSC Cruises said in a statement: "We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, and our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time."
