Airport Security Area Extended

The security search area at Jersey Airport is being extended.

Work will start next week to almost quadruple the size from 32m² to around 115m², including additional space for passengers to re-pack their hand luggage. It's expected to take nine days to complete.

During the work, hoarding is being put up and signs in place to direct passengers through security.

Airport bosses say this is the first stage of improvements to security services and facilities in the terminal, which includes new security staff being recruited.

Robin MacRae, the Airport Director, says they want to make the process smoother for passengers, particularly at busy times:

"The comfort, safety and security of airport users is a priority and we recognise some of the issues faced when travelling through security, especially during busy times. Security remains an essential part of the journey and we are committed to enhancing our services to ensure that the facilities we provide make it a smoother process for our passengers".
