Another year of 'outstanding' Jersey A Level results

Students across the island are celebrating getting their A Level results today.

The overall pass rate for Jersey’s A Level results was slightly below the UK's.

It is 96.4% for the 2024 graduating class, compared to England’s pass rate this year of 97.1%.

A quarter (25.5%) of all A Levels taken by Jersey students were at A* and A, compared to 27.6% in England.

For A*- C passes however, Jersey students achieved 78.0% compared to 76.0% in England.

Deputy Rob Ward

Deputy Rob Ward says all the island's students should be proud of themselves:

"It's important that students celebrate their successes. A level and Level 3 courses are notoriously difficult and our students yet again have performed.

"Each and every one of them needs to really enjoy their successes today."

Jersey College for Girls:

JCG is celebrating another year of 'outstanding' results, with all pupils passing all of their subjects once more. 

37% of grades were awarded this year at A*- A. 

Principal Carl Howarth said:

“We are incredibly proud of our students for their outstanding A Level results this year.

"Their extraordinary accomplishment speaks to their hard work, the dedication of our teaching staff, and the unwavering support from families.

"These results are not just numbers; they represent the countless hours of study, the overcoming of challenges, and academic growth of our students.”

Victoria College:

The boy's school has seen an increase this year in their A* - A grades, with 39.9% of results being of the top marks. 

88% of students opened their envelopes to A* - C grades, and there was a 99% pass rate overall.

Headteacher Dr Gareth Hughes expressed his pride: “Having known many of these students for 6 years, I am so proud to see them complete their journey at Victoria College and receive their superb grades today.

"These results are the reflection of a significant amount of hard work and endeavour; many of the students overcame personal challenges, showing perseverance and resilience, to emerge with qualifications that will pave the way for the rest of their lives."

De Le Salle College: 

Head of College Jason Turner said their students achieved the best results the school has seen. 

85% of pupils achieved grades A* - C. 

They also matched their 2023 figures in terms of students getting As and A*s.

Mr Turner said:

Beaulieu:

The Convent School says 98% of students looking to go into further education have been accepted by their first or second choice of university.

34% of all grades achieved by pupils were A* - A. 

New headmaster Matthew Burke said:

"As we celebrate these exceptional results, we are reminded that each student's journey is unique and that their time at Beaulieu has been about much more than academic success.

"It has been about personal growth, community involvement, and preparing for the future with confidence and compassion. We are immensely proud of what they have accomplished and look forward to seeing how they will continue to make their mark on the world."

Highlands College:

Highlands College’s sixth form students attained excellent results, with 97% passing their professional and technical qualifications at the same advanced level as A Levels.

94% have secured employment or enrolled upon further higher-level training; more than half of these will be studying degrees.

Hautlieu School:

Students who took the International Baccalaureate (IB) at Hautlieu School this year have achieved an 82% pass rate. This compares to a worldwide pass rate of 80%.

Nearly 70% of A level grades were A*-C
