Deputy Lindsay Ash has decided to take down his tweet saying that Oprah Winfrey, during her interview with Harry and Meghan, looked like footballer Ian Wright dressed up as Mrs. Doubtfire.
He told Channel 103 yesterday that when he pressed people who made those accusations, they couldn't answer.
The Assistant Treasury Minister also said that if anyone mentioned in the tweet was offended, then he apologises unreservedly, but he didn't think they would take too much notice of it.
He has now uploaded a statement online explaining his reasons for deciding to remove the tweet in question from his account.

The issue of my Tweet has been raised with both the Commissioner of Standards and the Chief Minister who both concluded I had breached no rules.
I have though decided to remove the Tweet from my account.

I am doing this as both the CM & I feel that it detracts from the vital work the Government are now involved in for the good of the Island .Amongst which is the delivery of a new Hospital which is at a crucial juncture & I would hate to be the cause of such a distraction
Deputy Ash joined the States of Jersey in 2018 and was chosen as Assistant to Treasury Minister Deputy Susie Pinel a short time later.
