Bailiff’s Fund For Storm Ciarán Reopens

A fund for people affected by Storm Ciarán is open to a second round of applications.

Charitable donations and pledges raised approximately £175,000 for the Bailiff's fund, part of which was used last year in support of the community.

More than £80,000 was distributed to more than 50 families in the first round of funding. The applications varied from replacement clothing and children's toys to structural damage and temporary housing solutions.

Anna Terry, CEO of Jersey Community Foundation, says there's been a need for the support.

“The first round of applications to the Bailiff’s Fund illustrated the scope of the damage and the extent to which our community needs this funding.

We welcome applications from any Islander who has been displaced or has suffered hardship because of Storm Ciarán and may need short term aid to help them through difficulty.”

The requests were for between £500 and £5000, and similar amounts are expected in this round.

The closing date for applications is 31 January. Applications should be made online and will be reviewed by a panel mid-February.
