Winds climbed to 76mph this weekend as Storm Darragh barged through the Channel Islands.

Jersey St Catherine's recorded the highest gusts, with Jersey Airport following close behind with winds reaching 73 miles per hour.

Guernsey Airport recorded highs of 66mph and the Channel Wave Buoy recorded 64mph.

Jersey Met reassured islanders ahead of the weekend that they 'were not expecting the forecast winds to be as severe as Storm Ciarán' but that disruption was to be expected.

The damage has been mostly reserved for fallen trees, with St Helier's Honoraries reporting issues on Beechfield and La Freddee Lane.

Pomme D’or Farm in West Hill and Beaumont Hill were closed due to a fallen tree but has since been cleared and reopened. 

The roof of Horizon was reported to be 'peeling off'.

Flights and ferry voyages were cancelled on Saturday, with disruption continuing today. 

Fallen trees also contributed to power outages across Jersey, with Jersey Electricity's rapid response teams working to reconnect islanders.

The Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service posted on Saturday: 'Five trees have already fallen around Guernsey, with all but one now cleared by Fire Crews, but it is expected more will come down in the coming hours.'

Bailiwick Law Enforcement posted: 'While the impact on the Bailiwick has been limited, the emergency services, alongside private tree surgeons, have been dealing with around 20 trees that have come down throughout the afternoon.'
