The highly anticipated Christmas lights switch-on in town has been delayed due to predicted bad weather.
Heavy rain and high winds expected this Thursday have postponed Jersey's start to the festive period until 24 November.
Fireworks displays are a traditional feature of the night.
The Parish of St. Helier has described it as impossible to set up and go ahead with the event safely with the current forecast conditions.
Connor Burgher, Town Centre and Event’s Manager, says he hopes islanders will join the celebrations next week instead.
“This is not a decision we have taken lightly but the safety of all attending and taking part in the switch on has to come first."
The parade will happen next Thursday, but with the Royal Square then being used for the Christmas Markets. the main focus of the evening will be Weighbridge Place.
