Covid Jabs Considered For All 5-11 Year-Olds

Jersey's Health Minister says a decision is expected 'in the near future' on whether the island will follow the UK in vaccinating all 5-11 year olds.

Deputy Richard Renouf says he welcomes the latest advice from the JCVI and the UK's chief medics, which says jabs should be rolled out to all children in that age group.

Currently, Jersey is only vaccinating those deemed to be at risk.

The Minister says the island's vaccination programme continues to follow the UK's advice, and clinicians will be discussing whether it should be used here.

"Our programme is currently offering COVID-19 vaccinations to at-risk 5 to 11 year olds, including children who live with someone who is immunocompromised, which follows recent JCVI advice.
