Firefighters were called out to Jersey's Superdrug store this morning in what turned out to be a false alarm.
A member of the public phoned 999 just before 8am after seeing smoke billowing from the shop.
Jersey Fire and Rescue were there a few minutes later, and parts of King Street, Broad Street, Dumaresq Street and Pitt street were cordoned off as a precaution.
Islanders were advised to avoid the area:

It's understood the shop's security system, which fills the area with smoke if an intruder is detected, had been accidentally set off.
Firefighters investigated the area and confirmed there was no fire.
The high street was re-opened again just before 9am.
