Hospice Prepares For Christmas Tree Collections

Islanders can register to have their real Christmas tree collected for recycling.

Jersey Hospice Care is running its annual service and asking for a minimum £15 donation to pick up your festive fir.

The charity has been recycling trees since 2005, with a group of volunteers touring the island to collect them and take them to the Green Waste Site at La Collette.

Events Officer Scott Douglas says it brings several benefits:

“Christmas tree collections is always a fantastic fundraising event to start the year. It’s a hassle-free way for people to make sure their tree is properly recycled, reduce car emissions, and help raise valuable funds for Hospice."

Hospice is looking for more volunteers with vans to help out. Volunteers can email fundraising@jerseyhospicecare.com for more info or to sign up.

Collections from businesses in St Helier will be on 3 and 4 January, and from households and businesses outside St Helier over the weekend of the 6 and 7 January.

Businesses are asked to sign up by 14:00 Tuesday 2 January and households by 08:00 Thursday 4 January at trees.jerseyhospicecare.com.
