The founder of the Jersey Boat Show has died.
Myra Shacklady, who worked for Jersey Harbours and subsequently Ports of Jersey for 12 years, passed away suddenly over the weekend.
She was responsible for the overall organisation of the show since it started in 2008 and despite retiring from Ports of Jersey in 2019, she was actively involved in planning the 2022 event as recently as a few days ago.
A Ports of Jersey spokesman says Myra was much respected in the business world, especially within the maritime community.
"Myra was one of the most kindest and generous of people, so knowledgeable and supportive, acting as a confidante and mentor when needed. It was a privilege to have her in our lives. She will be greatly missed by so many people across the Island, none more so than her friends and colleagues at Ports of Jersey.
We send our thoughts and prayers at this very sad time to her extended family and friends in Jersey and the UK."
