Jersey police officers are being praised for escorting a Jersey student to prom.

The Community Policing Team accompanied Kevin Teles, who has brittle bone disease and uses a wheelchair, down the red carpet for his prom yesterday, 20 June.

The Le Rocquier pupil was met with a police car and motorbike when he rocked up to his prom at The Weighbridge.

Kevin Teles tells us that the reaction from the crowd was very surprising:

"Everyone was very happy for me, the teachers said they haven't seen anything like it before.

"I am very thankful for everything that they did."

Sonia Teles, Kevin's mum, says she was overwhelmed with emotion at seeing her son's grand entrance:

"I was crying like a baby, I couldn't do nothing.

"When I saw him come in with the policemen and everyone was screaming, I was so happy, crying like a baby.

"It was such an emotional time."

Kevin's sister, Kelly Teles, took to Facebook to praise the officers who made her brother's day so special:

'I would just like to thank States of Jersey Police for making my brother's day on his prom day!

'It was his wish to have the police accompany him on this special day.

'Once again, thank you so much!'

It was confirmed by the States of Jersey Police on social media that PS Bowler, PC Shatford, PC Woolley and PC O’Donnell were the officers supporting Kevin's dream.

Kelly's post was widely shared on social media, leading to hundreds of comments complimenting Kevin and the officers.

One stated that Kevin's trip down the red carpet felt apt:

'The coolest entrance for the coolest young man.'
