Jersey Ranked Worst For Civic Engagement

Jersey has been named the worst country for civic engagement in the OECD.

It's an organisation made up of 36 member countries, that tries to improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.

Due to its 2018 voter turnout of 43.4%, Jersey ranks bottom of all 36 countries for civic engagement. The average is 69%.

That was revealed in a Better Life Index report, that's ranked the island as above average for wellbeing, but still below the UK and France.

The overall wellbeing of the island has been measured through 11 statistics - including income, wealth, personal safety and work-life balance.

Jersey was named in the top 10 for jobs and earnings, health status and community.

But the poor performance in civic engagement ranked Jersey 19th out of 39 nations overall - with a score of 6.8 out of 10.
