Students opening their GCSE results have achieved better grades than their English counterparts in 2024.

Almost 78% of young islanders passed their exams, receiving grades 9 to 4.

Additionally, nearly 28% of pupils received the highest grades of 9 to 7 (A/A*).

In England, just over two-thirds of students passed their GCSEs and around 22% of those opening their white envelopes earned the highest grades.

Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning, Deputy Rob Ward, has congratulated Jersey's students and says each should be proud of their individual journeys and achievements.

“Whether your next steps involve continuing in education, starting an apprenticeship, or embarking on a new career, the skills and knowledge you have gained will serve as a solid foundation for your future.

“I would also like to thank the parents, guardians, teachers, and school staff who have provided unwavering support and guidance. Your dedication has been instrumental in helping our students succeed.”

This cohort is the second set of pupils to receive their grades since the UK Government altered grade boundaries to pre-pandemic levels.

Seven in ten pupils at Hautlieu have passed their exams receiving grades ranging from 9 to 7.

The school says:

"The care of parents and teachers in supporting our students has been very much appreciated throughout their time with us.

"As our students leave us to embark on further education and employment across the world we wish them every success for the future."
