King Charles III and Queen Camilla to visit Jersey next month

Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla will visit Jersey on 15 July.

It will the first visit to the Channel Islands of a reigning monarch since May 2005, when Queen Elizabeth II was here for the 60th anniversary of Liberation Day 

Their Majesties attend a special sitting of the States Assembly and the Royal Court which, weather-permitting, will be held in the Royal Square.

The royal couple will then tour a large open-air expo aiming to showcase 'the best of Jersey' in one place. 

It is expected to include include fresh produce, farming displays, heritage crafts, and environmental initiatives.

The Lieutenant-Governor Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd  - who is the Crown's representative in Jersey - says he is delighted that to share the fantastic news that Their Majesties will be making their first visit to the island since the King’s accession to the throne.

"Their visit is a reflection of the ancient and very personal relationship which has existed between Jersey, as one of the Crown’s oldest possessions, and the Monarch which stretches back eight centuries.

"The binding benefits of this special relationship remain as strong as ever and I know Their Majesties are looking forward greatly to their visit next month."

The Deputy Bailiff of Jersey, Robert MacRae, announced the visit to the States Assembly earlier

"His Majesty King Charles III and Queen Camilla will travel to Jersey on the morning of Monday 15 July before visiting Guernsey on Tuesday 16 July.

"Their visit will include a special sitting of the States Assembly and the Royal Court and I very much look forward to this and the rest of the programme that has been planned for the visit."

After visiting Jersey, Their Majesties will travel to Guernsey on Tuesday 16 July, with a programme of events planned in St Peter Port.

More details on the royal visit will be announced soon, including the areas where islanders will be able to see the King and Queen. 

The Chief Minister, Deputy Lyndon Farnham, said:

“On behalf of the Government of Jersey, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Their Majesties.

"It is a matter of great pride to Islanders that the King and Queen have chosen to visit Jersey, and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our long and deep relationship with the Crown.”
