Man (45) sentenced for making indecent images of children

A 45-year-old man has been sentenced to two years and two months in prison for making indecent images of children.

Daniel Aylward has been jailed by the Royal Court after 1,149 images were found on his devices, with 218 images in the worst category.

The Digital Forensics Unit also found 307 Category B images and 624 Category C images.

Aylward pleaded guilty to all three counts of making incident images in the Magistrate’s Court in April.

As well as his prison sentence, Aylward was handed a notification order of five years, restrictive orders for four years and must forfeit his phone for destruction.

Detective Sergeant Jim McGranahan says Jersey Police will continue to bring offenders like this to justice:

“Protecting the public, and especially vulnerable children and adults in our island, is a main focus and priority for the States of Jersey Police.

“When people view and download images on their computers, then vulnerable children and people around the globe become the victims of exploitation.

"We will do whatever is in our power to bring offenders to justice and place them before the courts in Jersey, to safeguard those at home and abroad.”
