Nicholas Christopher Clyde-Smith (40) has been jailed for four and a half years for supplying cocaine, ectascy, LSD and cannabis.

The Royal Court heard how officers caught Cylde-Smith after they found evidence linking him with the purchase of large amounts of cocaine from a man who was later jailed in July 2022.

Bank statements showed large payments and text messages between the two, discussing the intent to supply cocaine to others.

The 40-year-old was then arrested at his home in June 2022, where officers took his phone and found drug paraphernalia with traces of cocaine and DMT, which is a powerful class A psychedelic drug.

A further warrant was served on Clyde-Smith, resulting in him giving officers the passcode to his phone.

Messages revealed that he was involved in the supply of various drugs:

  • Class A - Cocaine, DMT, LSD, MDMA (ecstasy),
  • Class B - Cannabis,
  • Class C - Diazepam and DHC (Dihydrocodeine).

Clyde-Smith's phone also led to the arrest and prosecution of another man, sentenced to a decade in prison in November 2023.

Police say this person had replaced the 40-year-old's other cocaine supplier after the first was imprisoned.

Detective Sergeant Jim McGranahan, Head of the Drug Squad said

"We are committed to putting those responsible for supplying these drugs before the courts.

We continue to work with our partners and other agencies to protect our community from the harm they can cause."

Clyde-Smith has also been served a confiscation order for £6,805.
