More schedule changes for Jersey to St Malo ferries

The Stena Vinga is still stepping in for the Tarifa Jet

DFDS has made more changes to its sailings as the Easter getaway begins, because its fast ferry Tarifa Jet is still not ready for service.

In an announcement on social media, DFDS has informed passengers that the Stena Vinga vessel will operate on the Jersey - St. Malo route from Thursday (3 April) to Monday (7 April), with two rotations daily to accommodate all passengers.

The intended vessel for the crossing - the Tarifa Jet - is still awaiting MCA permission to come into service.

The ferry company says it is 'continuing to work on addressing the technical issues arising from last week’s assessment.'

The Tarifa Jet is now expected to enter service next week.

The post reads:

Our schedules on this route will therefore change, and all customers with existing bookings will be contacted with details of these changes or alternative options.

Updated schedules will be visible in our online booking platform within 24 hours.

The Jersey-Portsmouth departures for the same period will be operated by a replacement vessel, with no schedule changes.

This comes after the ferry firm cancelled the first Jersey St Malo sailing on Friday - its first official day as the island ferry operator.

Chris Parker, Route Director for Jersey, said:

“As we eagerly await the Tarifa Jet to come into service, we want to make sure that passengers are able to travel with as little disruption as possible. I’m sorry that we have to make these changes to the schedule for this weekend and I would like to thank islanders for their continued patience with us.”
