Pubs, Bars and Restaurants To Close For At Least Two Weeks

Channel 103 understands that hospitality venues in Jersey will be forced to close their doors for at least two weeks from 00:01 on Friday 4 December.

It's understood that only takeaways will be allowed until 18 December at the earliest - but the closures could continue until early January 2021.

This is due to be confirmed in a government press conference this evening, to try and combat the sharp rise in coronavirus infection in recent days.

It's not known whether any form of exemption will be made for Christmas Day.

Details on extending payroll co-funding support to detriment plus 20%, capped at 80%, is also due to be announced to support the sector through this period.

The news comes just two days after the Deputy Medical Officer of health warned that hospitality restrictions would be the next focus if coronavirus case numbers keep increasing as they are.
