Applicants are expected to have 'a distinguished record of service to the Crown in Military Service at the highest level' as well as 'proven experience of working successfully with overseas jurisdictions or agencies'.

The job specification also includes taking over patronages of Jersey charities and hosting Royal or diplomatic visits to the island.

The closing date for applications is Friday 28 January, with the next Lieutenant-Governor due to take over later this year.
