Soup Kitchen raises £17,500

This year's Soup Kitchen for Shelter Trust has raised £17,500.

It is the second highest amount the annual fundraiser has taken in its 26 year history.

Thousands of cups of soups donated by chefs and community groups were sold in the Royal Square for a £3 donation to the charity's work supporting and feeding homeless islanders.

Commenting on the day, Richard Robins said:

‘We’re delighted to say the event raised £17,500. This is the second highest we’ve ever raised – last year’s anniversary year pipping this year’s total to the post because of some exceptional anniversary donations.

"We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated soups, supported the event and joined us on the day.

"This is an important day in the annual Shelter Trust calendar and funds raised will go towards providing essential meals to those who need them most, both through meals served in one of Shelter Trust’s seven sites or distributed through our Outreach Programme.
