Thousands of people flocked to St Helier for the switching on of the Christmas lights.
Santa led a parade through the town centre to the Weighbridge to signal the start of the festive season.
Father Christmas sleigh was trailed by a twinkling Le Petit Train from the Millennium Town Park, through West's Centre and King Street to Sand Street and on to the Royal Square.
Once the square was lit and a flurry of confetti released, the parade continued to the Weighbridge where islanders who had gathered had been entertained by choirs and Christmas music from the balcony of the Royal Yacht hotel.
The illuminations concluded with a fireworks finale.
The lights switch-on marks the start of Jersey's traditional Christmas festival 'La Fete de Noue' and Thursday late night and Sunday shopping.
