A new statue has been added to the Tortoise Takeover trail, but it may not be what you expect...
St Catherine's Breakwater is currently home to the newest two-metre-tall statue of a hare, called 'Love to Run'.
It was added to the event as a nod to the famous Aesop fable, 'The Tortoise and the Hare,' and was painted by local artist Nick Romeril.
Jersey Seafaris helped the hare to make its grand entrance to the breakwater on one of its ribs.
However, slow and steady is not the hare's motto.
The statue will not be sticking around for long as it will hop around the island each week, visiting different areas for islanders to find - so catch it you can.
Dr Lesley Dickie, CEO of Durrell, says the majestic hare sculpture will be located next to different tortoises for the remainder of the trail really adds a fun twist.
"We are so grateful to the amazing team at Ferryspeed, who have been such amazing support for this trail. They have shared our enthusiasm for this surprise sculpture, and it is thanks to them that we are able to move the hare to a different location every week.”
The hare is joining the other sculptures in the auction, with Durrell wanting to raise even more money for the animal conversation charity.
