Jersey students heading to university in Wales from September will be charged home fees.
The decision has been approved by the Welsh government and follows a similar announcement from the English government last year.
The majority of Welsh universities are already charging students from the Crown Dependencies home fees, but from the next academic year all of them will.
It means Jersey students will pay the same as UK residents for all levels of study.
Children and Education Minister Deputy Scott Wickenden has welcomed the announcement:
“This is wonderful news for students and families, as they can now apply to a Welsh university with complete clarity about the fees they’ll be charged.
Because this change applies to Master and PhD degrees, as well as undergraduate degrees, I hope it will enable more Jersey students to reach their potential at all levels.”
